Kelburn Garden Party - Preview

This weekend the Kelburn Garden Party takes place, just outside Largs. An independent run festival, it offers a wide variety of goings on across Saturday and Sunday. Held in the grounds of Kelburn Castle, the site of Graffit Project, which means the Garden Party is full of colour before anything else even begins. One appealling aspect of this small festival is that camping is included free of charge, (except for Friday night) which is always a good way to get people to stay for the whole weekend. Billed as a family friendly festival as well, don't forget to pack the kids in the boot of the car as well!

Music wise, the main attraction has to be Sons And Daughters. Having recently released 'Mirror Mirror', their set is bound to be packed full of songs of the album such as Silver Spell (below). Their reputation as Glasgow's dark indie gods, should ensure big expectations from the 700 strong crowd, and despite their recent period of inactivity before the release of the new LP, Sons And Daughters should deliver a stormer of a performance.

Not really my scene, but Optimo big hitter JD Twitch takes the stage after Sons And Daughters. Bound to keep things going strong into the night.

Perfect for a Sunday night, reggae/dub outfit, Mungo's Hi-Fi are the big name on the bill.

Other picks for me include Discopolis and White Heath who both play the Pyramid Show on Saturday.
